NEW YORK CITY: DAY ONE
NEW YORK CITY
We made it! After 6 long hours, we found ourselves in New York’s China Town where the final route of the bus stops. It was a gloomy and rainy day for New York which made the city look sad and beautiful at the same time. Because of New York’s value of money, we decided to stay in Brooklyn where you can find the very famous Dumbo (we’ll be visiting tomorrow). Hotel prices are definitely cheaper and is still accessible by the Subway Station. In fact, the subway was only a two-minute walk from our hotel.
At around 3 PM, we made our way to Manhattan and being a non-New Yorker, we obviously got lost and entered the wrong Subway. It was confusing at first but understanding the name of the places and having google maps helped a lot. Julian and I bought metro cards and a 20-minute trip from Brooklyn to Manhattan only cost us $2.75 each. And of course, our first meal of the day was none other than Jollibee! Oh boy, we missed Jollibee so much after eating it nonstop in Dubai 3 months ago. And by the way, the new branch in the city is now open so you don’t really have to travel to Brooklyn or Queens if you are far from both places.
After our brunner (breakfast, lunch, and dinner 😂) at Jollibee, we walked around the area since Times Square was literally just around the corner. It wasn’t really a walking trip kinda day but since the weather was gloomy the whole day, I think it affected our mood to explore so we decided to just chill in Times Square and people watch while resting our feet. New York City is so beautiful in it’s own way. The high buildings and architectures weren’t new to me because I’m not gonna lie, the buildings in Dubai are way prettier but the people, the diversity, the smell, the fast-phase street, and graffiti walls complete its look and it was really captivating over all. I was thinking to myself, “Lord, I’ve never really dreamt of NYC but thank you for bringing Julian in my life and making this possible.”
We decided to call the night early to condition ourselves for tomorrow’s exploration, but I wanted to share these set of photos before I take some rest.
