LET'S EAT: POLLO POLLO
I was invited by Pollo Pollo to visit their place in the heart of Umm Suqeim, Jumeirah. Obviously, I assume every restaurant with empanada is a Mexican cuisine, but it is actually pure Peruvian in origin. So without further adieu, let me walk you through.
Just to let you know, I have no idea what I was about to indulge but I trusted the chef and their assurance that I will not regret my decision to eat here. They suggested ordering Whole Chicken good for 6 people & the fitness option Grilled Chicken to fill the eight of us.
Their empanadas are really tasty and it reminded me so much of my mom’s version. I love all kinds of empanadas, and I heard from my Colombian boyfriend that they have loads of different empanada delicacies. I can’t wait to try them all!
Inca Cola tasted more like vimto which gave a college day throwback feels. It was definitely a good combination with all the salty bitterish taste of the salad which by the way is the bomb as well because, avocado.
Arroz Chaufa is a Chinese-Peruvian rice and it tasted like a beast! boom. I don’t know how to describe that dish but yes. So pair that with a whole chicken served with papa fritas, large salad, and three signature sauces. How even?
Oh, and they have this purple coin that came directly from Peru, containerized, and made sure that they are fresh to serve. It is mixed with a drink called Chicha Morada. To be honest, that drink kinda tasted weird and my taste buds didn’t agree with it. But the others liked it so, I guess it depends upon your preference.
So let’s talk about sweets now. First, we got Picarones; a sweet mildly flavored Peruvian donut made of sweet potato and squash drizzled with syrup. Need I say more? We also had Mazamorra Morada; a pudding made from purple corn and fruit bits with cinnamon. I suggest you order Arroz Con Leche along with it because they go together really well like the yin-yang.

To sum it up, I’m rating it 4.5/5. I loved the whole experience, but obviously, some of the delicacies are not for my taste-buds. Nevertheless, the staff, the place, the ambiance, and the experience with their hands-on service were superb. Pollo Pollo is highly recommended especially if you’re looking for something new! You will never regret every bite.
